1) Is there enough of a difference between formal and INFORMAL design? The balance and rhythm is off as the ball sharply bounces around and goes into random spasms. You would think the work is formal by the way it starts off but the violent movements and fast pace puts this under the informal category. The blue against the black background works well and the ball is well proportioned against it's surroundings. Going with a more subtle colour against the black background is a good idea and the movement keeps the ball in focus. With the ball randomly moving around it sets a continuous visual path for the eyes to follow. The blue works well with the background and the light outer glow makes it more noticeable.
2) Is the concept appropriate for INFORMAL? Yes because of the frenzied, random directions the ball flies in. The way the font and ball line up at the end is also rather abstract in that the text randomly fades in as the ball comes to an abrupt stop.
3) Give suggestions as to how improvements can be made & how ideas can be developed further. Maybe some more technique with the ball in addition to the movements such as colour changing or altering the scale of the ball.
4) Rate the overall aesthetic and explain why?
strength > The colour pallet works well together.
weaknesses > Ball doesn't really change with the exclusion of its location.
opportunities > More alternations with animating the ball would have shown more technique.
threats > The sharp movements and fast pace could potentially alienate older audiences but would appeal to younger generations.
